We provided Delivery Management services to a Canadian operator during a riser replacement project. This project was highly scrutinised as it followed on from a prior riser replacement which failed hydro-static testing at the point of commissioning. Failure Mode assessment, including detailed end-fitting inspection, highlighted a weakness in the end fitting design, which led to a failure of the Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) pressure sheath within the prior riser.
Our specialist engineers oversaw the sensitive pipe termination process to ensure the failure did not re-occur. Our engineers have direct Original Equipment Manufacturer expertise, allowing us to offer a manufacturer’s insight, whilst maintaining the independent oversight which is so valuable to our global clients.
Flexlife has a growing understanding of the new range of high specification composite pipes. We assisted an energy company by providing Delivery Management services for the North Malay Basin project.
The real innovation in this project lies in the utilisation of Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe (RTP) technology, not merely as a pipe liner within pre-existing legacy pipeline systems, but as a standalone flowline system.
We provided pipe design verification services, manufacturing oversight, pipe termination witness and factory acceptance test accreditation on our client’s behalf. This innovative product has a significantly lower minimum bend radius when compared to unbonded or Thermoplastic Composite flexible pipes. This means that, once packaged for shipment, it was suitable for air transport to Malaysia, thus meeting the lay vessel’s offshore schedule.
