Armadillo® | Flexible Riser Outer Sheath Breach Repair
A flexible pipe’s outer sheath is the main barrier to saltwater ingress and protects the riser from corrosive damage of oxygenated seawater. The majority of flexible pipe failures are initially caused by outer sheath burst or damage to the outer sheath during installation or on-going operations.
Damage to the outer sheath is often found during routine annulus testing, but visual indications are sometimes found in cases of outer sheath burst in the splashzone.
Flexlife’s Armadillo® system is the answer to the offshore industry’s need for a permanent repair system for flexible pipe outer sheaths. Until Armadillo®, the only repair methods offered to operators were steel clamps or basic tape-wrap fixes.
