Aberdeen Company Brings in "Bond'' Girls to Launch New HQ

October 2008

Bond night

007 fans at an Aberdeen oil services company have launched their new HQ in style, leaving guests stirred but not shaken.

Leading flexible pipe specialist Flexlife marked the official opening with a Bond-theme champagne reception in a marquee for 100 leading energy industry figures.

And directors at the young company had no need of a Quantum of Solace after bringing in their own "Bond'' girls to party the night away and serving the new Flextini martini - devised for them by city cocktail bar Dusk - through an ice-sculpture of a flexible pipe.

Guests also had the opportunity to take on lady luck on the roulette and blackjack tables, courtesy of Gala Casinos.

Flexlife director Stuart Mitchell said: "We're all massive Bond fans and with the new movie coming out soon, we thought having a 007 party would be fantastic fun.''

The company invested £750,000 in its new HQ at Bucksburn and plans to open further offices at key international locations.

Flexlife was established by flexible pipe experts Stuart Mitchell, John Marsden and Carl-Petter Halvorsen who identified a gap in the market for an innovative consultancy to offer field-proven solutions, deliver them and also deal with integrity management.

Flexlife's core business is the delivery of subsea and riser pipe projects, from tie-backs to deep water, including pipe specification, cross section and system design.

Since starting up, Flexlife has completed project management work for Apache North Sea Ltd, integrity management for Total E&P UK Ltd and Maersk Oil and engineering support on various  projects globally for Subsea 7.
