November 2011

Each year, during the month formerly known as November, men around the world grow a moustache to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues - specifically prostate and testicular cancer.
The team at subsea specialist Flexlife participated in the 2011 Movember campaign when 13 members of staff ditched their razors in support of the cause.
Flexlife’s Chief Executive Stuart Mitchell said: “Statistics show that more than 10,000 men will die of prostate cancer in the UK this year alone, that’s a startling reality. Being able to show support for such a fantastic charity has been a real pleasure and a great source of entertainment within the team – we’ll definitely be participating again in years to come.”
The Movember Foundation uses the money raised to fund two programmes. The first is an awareness and education programme that significantly increases the understanding and reduces the stigmas of the health risks that men face.
The second is Movember’s Global Action Plan, which accelerates key outcomes in prostate cancer research by facilitating global research collaboration projects.
Flexlife staff raised over £2000 for the worthy cause.
